The MikroTik cAP ac (RBcAPGi-5acD2nD) is a dual-band Wi-Fi access point that works on 2.4 and 5 GHz and supports the 802.11b/g/n/ac standards. Two Gigabit ports, PoE in and out and a RouterOS L4 licence make it a flexible device for home and office networks.

Description

PoE and two ports make installation simpler

The cAP ac takes power over the network cable, so you do not need a separate socket where it is mounted. The second Gigabit port offers PoE out: it can power the next device and carry the wired network further. Without a PoE switch, the included power adapter does the job. The manufacturer gives dimensions for two case shapes: round Ø 136 × 30 mm and square 145 × 145 × 30 mm, in white.

Questions & answers

Can the access point be powered over the network cable?

Yes. The cAP ac accepts PoE input with a 12–56 V range, and the second port passes PoE on to the next device. A regular power adapter is also included.

Does it work on 5 GHz?

Yes, it works on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Newer clients connect with 802.11ac on 5 GHz, older ones use 802.11b/g/n.

How large an area does it cover?

The manufacturer does not specify a range. It depends on walls, mounting position and interference; the internal antennas have up to 2.5 dBi gain.
