A typical mobile router has a single LTE connection, and when that network disappears the site is offline. The RUTX12 is a Dual LTE model that holds two LTE connections, so an outage at one operator or weak coverage does not have to mean downtime. Using two different operators is the simplest way to make a remote site's connection far more dependable than a single-SIM setup.

LTE Cat 6 is a 4G category that supports carrier aggregation: the connection can use several of the operator's frequency bands at once, which gives headroom in speed and stability. Real-world throughput depends on the operator, the signal and the mounting location, so the supplier data gives no fixed Mbit/s figure for this device. A good mounting spot often does more than a faster plan.

Many companies use a mobile router as a fallback for fibre or DSL. The RUTX12 goes a step further: with redundancy on the mobile side too, tills, security cameras, remote control and data links keep working even when one network is under maintenance or overloaded. Whether a wired internet line can also be connected is not stated in the supplier data, so check it on the Teltonika datasheet.

The RUTX12 weighs 0.54 kg, so it can sit in an equipment cabinet or on a shelf without a heavy mount. The low weight also makes temporary setups simple, for example on a construction site or at an event that needs connectivity for a few weeks. The port count, antenna kit and power supply are not listed in the supplier data, so confirm them with Teltonika before installation.

Companies whose remote sites, tills or cameras must not depend on a single mobile network; integrators building dependable connections where there is no cable; and IT departments that need a serious backup line.
