Description

Wi-Fi 7 that still connects older devices

802.11be is the Wi-Fi 7 standard, giving supporting laptops and phones access to the latest speeds and wider channels. Because the access point also supports 802.11ax, ac and n, devices that are a few years old connect without trouble. One field in the supplier data reads 802.11ax, but 802.11be is included in the list of supported standards.

Three bands at once

The 2.4 GHz band reaches furthest and passes through walls best, suiting smart home devices and distant rooms. 5 GHz is the fast everyday network. The 6 GHz band is new and less congested, so devices that support it get a more stable connection there even when neighbors run many networks.

MU-MIMO for several devices at once

MU-MIMO lets the access point send data to several devices simultaneously instead of serving them one after another. In an office or home where phones, laptops, a TV and smart devices are all connected at once, that means less waiting and more even speed for everyone.

PoE++ power over one cable

The access point is powered over PoE++ through the same network cable that carries its data, so no separate socket is needed on the ceiling or wall. PoE++ delivers more power than standard PoE+, so a PoE++ capable switch or injector is required. Port speed, coverage area and dimensions are not given in the supplier data.

Who this access point is for

Offices and homes that already have Wi-Fi 7 laptops and phones and many simultaneous connections; apartment buildings and offices where neighboring networks crowd 2.4 and 5 GHz; and network builders who already own a PoE++ capable switch and want a tri-band access point alongside other Ubiquiti equipment.

Questions & answers

What power does the access point need?

The U7 Pro XGS uses PoE++ power. You need a PoE++ capable switch or injector that delivers both data and power over the network cable.

Will older devices connect?

Yes. In addition to the Wi-Fi 7 standard 802.11be, the access point supports 802.11ax, ac and n.

How large an area does the access point cover?

The manufacturer does not specify. Coverage also depends on walls, ceiling height and the number of connected devices.
