AMOLED has no separate backlight: pixels light up on their own, so dark scenes stay deep instead of turning grey. The 6.57″ diagonal and 1080 × 2372 resolution give Full HD+ sharpness, comfortable for watching video as well as reading long articles.
There is 512 GB of storage, which is a lot for a phone: years of photos, downloaded films and games all fit. On top of that, microSDXC cards are supported, so you can move a music library or backups onto a card. RAM is 8 GB, and the processor has cores clocked at 2.5 GHz and 2.0 GHz.
According to the manufacturer, a 10–45 W charger is compatible and USB Power Delivery is supported. If you already own a PD charger for a laptop or tablet, you can use that one. There is no charger in the box, so check beforehand that the one you have supports USB-C.
Dual SIM means the phone takes two SIM cards: for example a work line and a personal number, or a local data SIM when travelling. 5G support gives faster mobile data wherever your operator runs a 5G network. The phone runs Android 16.
The OPPO Reno16 FS 5G in Purple Black suits someone who wants plenty of storage and a memory card slot, and prefers a dark colour that is not plain black. It is also a sensible option for people who use two numbers and need 5G.
