Synology RX1223RP NAS expansion unit, 12 × 3.5" hot-swap bays, 550 W, black

When the bays of your main NAS are full, you do not have to replace the whole system. The RX1223RP connects to your existing Synology unit and adds 12 drive bays that are managed by the same system. Users, permissions and shared folders stay exactly as they are; there is simply more room for data.

All 12 bays are designed for 3.5-inch drives and support hot swapping. A failed drive can be pulled and replaced without shutting the system down, which matters wherever storage has to stay online around the clock. Drives can also be added gradually: start with a few and fill the remaining bays later.

The power supply is rated at 550 W and runs on 100–240 V AC. That is enough to feed a fully populated enclosure, and the wide voltage range means it plugs into any standard mains supply. The manufacturer data does not separately describe the number of power supplies or whether they are redundant.
