Thunderbolt 5 gives up to 80 Gbit/s for data between the dock and the computer, and up to 120 Gbit/s when most of the link is devoted to video. In practice, monitors, an SSD, networking and USB devices can all work at the same time over one cable. The dock is Thunderbolt 5 certified, works with TB5, TB4 and USB4 computers, and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB-C machines with DP Alt Mode.

The dock has two HDMI outputs supporting 8K 60 Hz, and up to three screens can be connected in total. With a single monitor the resolution reaches 10K 60 Hz; with three it is 5K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz. A high-refresh 4K gaming monitor or several large work screens get their picture over the same cable that charges the laptop.

The dock supplies up to 140 W to the laptop, enough for more powerful models too, and up to 30 W to a phone or tablet through two front USB-C ports. Everything runs from a 180 W DC adapter, so there is no need for separate chargers on the desk. A power switch lets you turn the dock off without unplugging cables.

An M.2 NVMe SSD in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 size can be installed inside the dock. The slot runs at PCIe 4.0 x4, and according to the manufacturer read and write speeds reach up to 6000 MB/s, close to the speed of the laptop internal SSD. It is a handy place for project files, a photo library or backups that are always at hand at your desk.

Wired networking runs through a 2.5GbE RJ-45 port, a card reader takes SD and microSD Express, and USB devices get eight ports in total. The Thunderbolt 5 downstream port lets you daisy-chain further Thunderbolt devices up to five levels deep. A Thunderbolt Share licence is included for connecting two computers directly to move files and control the second machine. The housing is made from recycled materials.
