Description

Wi-Fi 7 without opening the computer

When a computer's built-in Wi-Fi is slow or faulty, a USB adapter is the simplest fix: plug it into a USB port and there is no need to open the case. The Archer TBE230U supports the Wi-Fi 7 standard, and BE3600 stands for a combined speed class of around 3600 Mbit/s across both bands. Wi-Fi 7 speeds come with a Wi-Fi 7 router; with an older router the adapter runs at that router's standard.

Who this Wi-Fi adapter is for

Laptop users who want newer Wi-Fi without an adapter that sticks far out of the USB port. Desktop owners whose motherboard has no Wi-Fi and no free PCIe slot. And anyone who has switched to a Wi-Fi 7 router at home and wants an older computer to use the new network as well.

Questions & answers

Does the TBE230U support the 6 GHz band?

No. The adapter works on two bands, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. For 6 GHz you need a tri-band adapter such as the Archer TBE400U Plus.

Will it work with an older router?

Yes. 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax/be are supported, so the adapter also connects to Wi-Fi 6, Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 routers.

Which USB standard does the adapter use?

The manufacturer does not specify the USB version. For the highest speed, plug the adapter into the fastest USB port on your computer.
