Description

Wi-Fi on the wall, right where the cable already is

A wall-plate access point suits hotel rooms, offices and flats where a network cable is already run inside the wall. The unit mounts on the wall, takes no desk space and needs no separate power adapter, because power comes from a PoE switch or injector over the same cable. AX3000 stands for a combined speed class of around 3000 Mbit/s across both bands, and the two gigabit ports can take a TV, an IP phone or a desktop computer.

Who this access point is for

Hotels and guesthouses that need good Wi-Fi plus a wired connection in every room. Offices with a network cable in each room, where installing ceiling access points would be too much work. And private houses where the router signal does not reach the far rooms but cabling is already built into the walls.

Questions & answers

How is the EAP650-Wall powered?

Over PoE: power comes through the same network cable that carries the data. You need a PoE switch or a PoE injector; the manufacturer does not specify whether an injector is included.

Can I plug wired devices into it?

Yes, the access point has two RJ-45 ports at 10/100/1000 Mbit/s for a TV, an IP phone or a computer, for example.

Can older devices connect to a Wi-Fi 6 access point?

Yes. 802.11ax/ac/n/g/b/a are supported, so Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 4 devices connect too, on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz.
