Mounts for 85-inch TVs

What 85 inches demands from a wall

The TV weighs 26–67 kg and is nearly two metres wide. At this point you are no longer choosing features but load rating and wall: the 80 kg class, six to eight plugs in concrete, and two people lifting.

• VESA. 600 × 400 or 800 × 400. Measure the holes on the back and make sure the plate covers both patterns.
• Type. Fixed or tilting. A long articulated arm at this weight is the risk that later leaves plaster on the floor.
• Height. A big screen hangs lower: centre about 95–105 cm from the floor, otherwise you watch with your neck back.
• Stand. Some floor stands carry 70–80 kg, and that is the only option for a glass wall or a temporary setup.

Installation

If the wall carries heating pipes or is a light partition, do not drill — take a stand. The TV itself arrives with the oversized courier, and carry-in is a separate service.

Frequently asked questions

Is 80 kg too much for a 50 kg TV? No. At this weight headroom is the only thing protecting you from a wrong plug or a crooked hole.

Can two people manage? For the plate yes; for lifting the TV a third pair of hands is sensible.

Will the mount also fit a 98-inch set? Check rating and VESA: 98-inch TVs weigh 70–77 kg, which is the limit for most 80 kg models.
