Mounts for 75-inch TVs

This is where mounting gets serious

A 75-inch TV weighs 28–48 kg. Anything rated under 60 kg is out, and the wall has to be concrete or proper load-bearing studs — this screen does not go on plasterboard, whatever the plug packaging promises.

• VESA. Almost always 600 × 400. Check bolt length too: a big TV has a deeper back panel and the standard bolt can come up short.
• Mount type. Fixed and tilting are the sensible choices at this weight. Full-motion exists, but then take the 80 kg class and fix into concrete.
• Two people, three hands. Plate and spirit level first, the TV only once every screw is torqued. Remember the box itself is 2 m wide.
• Stand. A floor stand on castors carries 50–60 kg and is the only option when the wall cannot take it or is glass.

Frequently asked questions

Is a full-motion mount worth it at 75 inches? Only on a concrete wall and in the 80 kg class. Otherwise choose tilting.

How many plugs? Six or eight, 10–12 mm diameter. The exact pattern is in the manufacturer's instructions.

Can I take the TV off later myself? You can, with two people: release the latches at the bottom and lift the set off the plate.
