• LED strips work behind a TV, under kitchen counters or beneath a bed — soft indirect light without glare.
• Light panels (Nanoleaf) are lighting and wall art at once; you can add modules later.
• Mood lights (Hue Play, Hue Lightbar) add a colour wash behind a TV or monitor.
• Holiday lighting sets the mood in December and doubles as everyday light the rest of the year.

Do you need a bridge?

ZigBee devices (Philips Hue, Aqara) need a bridge or smart-home hub — in return you get instant response and scenes. Bluetooth models are controlled straight from the phone, but only within one room.

FAQ

Can an LED strip be cut? Usually yes, at the marked cutting points; extensions are sold separately.

Can the light sync with a film? With Philips Hue it can — you need the Hue Sync app or an HDMI box.
