What MagSafe is and why the case needs magnets too

MagSafe is the ring of magnets in the back of iPhones since the iPhone 12 (the 16e is the exception). The magnets pull a wireless charger into the right spot and hold a car mount, card wallet or stand in place. The plastic of a regular case weakens that grip: a wallet can slide off in your pocket and the charger no longer lines up properly.

A MagSafe case has its own magnet ring directly over the phone’s ring, so magnetic accessories snap on as firmly as they do to a bare phone.

Which phones support MagSafe

• iPhone 12 and newer. Every model from the iPhone 12 on (except the 16e), including mini, Plus, Pro and Pro Max, plus the iPhone Air and iPhone 17e. Our widest MagSafe range is for the iPhone 16 and 17 series.
• iPhone 16e, 11, XR and SE. These phones have no magnet ring. A magnetic case gives accessories something to hold on to, but charging runs at ordinary Qi speed. Its successor, the iPhone 17e, has MagSafe again — see iPhone 17e cases.
• Samsung and other Android phones. Most Android phones have no built-in magnets. A case with a magnet ring (the FIXED Mag range, Tactical MagForce, Tech-Protect Magmat and others) makes Galaxy S and some Galaxy A models compatible with MagSafe and Qi2 accessories.

Chargers, car mounts and wallets

• Charging. MagSafe and Qi2 chargers snap into the correct position on their own, and charging does not stop when you move the phone.
• In the car. A magnetic car phone holder works without clamps: put the phone against it and it stays.
• Cards and a stand. A magnetic wallet carries a couple of cards and simply comes off while the phone charges. Some cases have a ring or kickstand on the back so the phone can stand on a table.

Materials: silicone, clear, leather or aramid

Apple’s Silicone Case is soft and grippy; Tech-Protect, Karl Lagerfeld and Fusion make silicone covers with a similar feel. Clear MagSafe cases such as the Apple Clear Case, CARE by PanzerGlass Flagship and FIXED MagPure let the phone’s colour show through — see also clear cases. Faux leather designs from Guess and BMW look more classic, while aramid fibre cases (FIXED MagVelar, Tactical, Spigen) are thin and rigid. The exact model and Camera Control

A MagSafe case has to match your exact model, because the ring position and the camera bump differ on every phone. Even the Pro and Pro Max of the same generation are not interchangeable. Choose your model in the filter or in the row of models above the products — for example iPhone 17 Pro cases. For the Camera Control button, some cases leave a cut-out, while Apple’s Case with MagSafe and Camera Control has a cover that passes the press through. Frequently asked questions

Can I charge a phone in a MagSafe case on a regular wireless charger? Yes, the case does not block Qi charging. On a pad without magnets, simply centre the phone yourself.

Is a MagSafe case worth it for the iPhone 16e? If you use a magnetic car mount or wallet, yes. Charging stays at standard Qi speed, though, because the phone itself has no MagSafe.

Will the magnet damage my bank card? The chip is not affected by magnets, but a magnetic stripe can suffer from long contact with a strong magnet. Do not leave cards or key fobs between the phone and the charger — Apple gives the same advice.

Are there MagSafe cases for Samsung phones? Yes, mostly for the Galaxy S series and a few Galaxy A models. Pick Samsung in the phone brand filter.

How fast is delivery in Estonia? A case in stock usually arrives in 1–2 working days. Parcel locker delivery costs €2.99 and courier delivery €7.99. An unused case in its original packaging can be returned within 14 days.
